Traffic delays are building on the A12 after a collision forced police to shut the road.

The major route through Essex was fully closed between junctions 15 and 16 at the A414 and B1007 at around 6.45am this morning due to the crash.

Highways England, which looks after Britain’s A-roads and motorways, said one lane has now been opened on the northbound stretch to help alleviate the build up of traffic.

But in a Tweet it warned: “Delays building on the approach. Please allow extra time and approach with care.”
