DRIVERS who have been diverted due to an earlier crash on the A14 are now facing long delays on alternative routes.
Westbound traffic is being diverted on to the A142 from Newmarket to Ely but there is a blockage on this route.
A police spokeswoman said: “We are not sure what is causing it at the moment, whether it's a break down, another accident or just the sheer volume of traffic but we have the helicopter up trying to find out what's going on.”
The initial accident happened at around 8.15am at the Rowley Mile Services, near Newmarket, and involved a van containing oxygen cylinders travelled.
The road is closed in both directions.
