CAMPAIGNERS say they are determined to continue with their efforts to get an extension of overtaking and speed restrictions outside their homes despite extra traffic calming measures being installed on the approach to their homes.
CAMPAIGNERS say they are determined to continue with their efforts to get an extension of overtaking and speed restrictions outside their homes despite extra traffic calming measures being installed on the approach to their homes.
Members of CRASH (Campaign by Residents Against Speed in Hintlesham) who live along Back Lane, on the A1071 just beyond a double S-bend on the Hadleigh side of the village, set up their campaign following the tragic death of GP, Dr Tom Peniston, nearby on the road in November last year.
Campaign co-ordinator, Alison Archbold, said recent resurfacing of the notorious bend, remarking double white lines and the addition of red colouring on central hatched areas and "slow" warnings on the carriageway were all to be welcomed.
However, the group did not feel they had gone far enough since all the warnings and restrictions ceased as soon as the road straightened out just by their homes.
A spokesman for Suffolk County Council said there were currently no plans to extend the 30mph limit.
