Firefighters and police were called at about 10.10am today following reports that a van containing barrels of oil was on fire in a lay-by off the A14 at Fenstanton.
Traffic delays were caused as both the eastbound and westbound carriageways were closed for nearly an hour while the incident was cleared.
The road was reopened in both directions by 11.15am after a recovery team had removed the van and the Highways Agency cleared away debris.
