Traffic on the A12 at Brightwell to the east of Ipswich was slowed on Saturday morning after an accident involving a motorcycle and another vehicle.

An initial call to the police suggested the accident could be very serious, but when traffic police arrived they found that the motorcyclist was on his feet and talking about the collision.

One lane of the northbound carriageway of the road was closed while the damaged vehicles were recovered which caused the traffic to slow down.

However this was all cleared and traffic heading towards the Suffolk coast was able to continue as normal after about an hour.

Elsewhere in Suffolk and north Essex traffic was moving well on all roads on Saturday morning and there were no delays reported on the region’s rail lines after two days of disruption sparked by the thunderstorms that hit East Anglia during Thursday which damaged signalling on several routes.
