A12 fully reopened after serious crash

Police have reopened a stretch of the A12 south of Ipswich following a crash between two cars.

The incident happened on the northbound carriageway at East Bergholt around 7.50pm last night, Suffolk police confirmed.

Four fire crews, from Ipswich's Princes Street, Hadleigh, Woodbridge and Nayland stations, were called to the scene.

Highways England later revealed on Twitter that the northbound carriageway of the road was shut between junctions 30 and 31.

The road remained closed overnight while emergency services remained on scene.

The carriageway reopened around 5.45am.

A police spokesman was unable to confirm the extent of any injuries sustained at this time.
