AN investigation was underway today after a train overshot the platform at Needham Market railway station and had to back up to collect its passengers.
The 6.41am train from Cambridge to Ipswich passed through the station and the driver had to stop and obtain permission from the signal box to reverse.
The train was delayed, but a spokesman for rail operator 'one' said only a few minutes were added to the journey and no other services were affected by the problem.
He said: “At this stage we don't know exactly what the cause of the incident was, but we will be interviewing the driver and fully investigating what happened in this case.”
