THOUSANDS of Suffolk commuters are facing lengthy delays today after a person was killed when they were struck by a train at Witham.

THOUSANDS of Suffolk commuters are facing lengthy delays today after a person was killed when they were struck by a train at Witham.

Trains are not presently running between Colchester and Chelmsford following the fatal collision which happened at about 2.20pm and involved the 1pm train from Norwich to Liverpool Street.

Instead a rail replacement bus service will ferry passengers between the two stations.

Passengers were warned they face one hour delays.

British Transport Police and other emergency service are currently at the scene dealing with the aftermath of the accident.

A spokesman said investigations were on going but the death was thought to be non-suspicious.

Commuters making their way back to Suffolk from London are expected to face severe delays.
