The line between Ipswich and Felixstowe has been affected and a replacement bus service is in operation but is not calling at Westerfield.
Train operator 'one' said passengers should expect delays of up to 30 minutes but added that engineers were working to resolve the problem.
It added that normal service should be resumed with the 2.27pm service from Ipswich to Felixstowe and the 2.56pm service from Felixstowe to Ipswich.
