Electricity supply problems on the West Anglia line in London mean there are serious problems on the rail line between Cambridge and London Liverpool Street on Thursday morning.

That means travellers heading to the capital from Bury St Edmunds should travel on the eastern route via Ipswich rather than travel west to the Cambridge to catch a Liverpool Street train.

There is a problem between Cambridge Heath and Hackney Downs which means there is no power to the signalling system between these stations so all trains are currently suspended.

A few trains have been diverted via Stratford – but there is limited capacity and passengers from Bury would find a more reliable service via the Ipswich and Colchester route into London.

Passengers from Newmarket can still travel to London via Cambridge on a train to Kings Cross – that route is unaffected but is operated by a different train company, not Greater Anglia.
