TRAIN services get back to near normal operation today although Anglia Railway's services will be severely curtailed on New Year's Day.

Anglia InterCity services will run as per timetable from today until the Tuesday with the exception of the weekday 07.10 from Norwich to Diss, Stowmarket, Ipswich, Manningtree, Colchester and Liverpool Street which is cancelled.

The weekday 18.27 Liverpool Street to Manningtree, Ipswich and Norwich will not run.

On New Year's Day, more than 30 InterCity services have been cancelled. A basic hourly service in each direction is being maintained, the first departure from Ipswich to London being the 06.23.

The first Anglia train from the capital for returning New Year revellers will be the 06.25 calling at Chelmsford, Colchester, Manningtree, Ipswich, Stowmarket, Diss and Norwich.

Boat train services from London, Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich will operate as timetabled to connect with sailings to Amsterdam and Esjberg but on New Year's Eve and January 1 there will be alterations to take account of cancelled crossings by Stena Line on the Harwich to Hook of Holland route.

Great Eastern will operate near normal services between December 27 and 31 with Sunday services on New Year's Day except the line from Colchester to Clacton-on-Sea which will have an altered timetable.
