Train services between Ipswich and Felixstowe have returned to normal agyet being cancelled because of emergency repairs on a defective piece of track.

The issue was on a stretch of line between Trimley and Derby Road stations, leaving all lines blocked.

A spokesman from Greater Anglia said: “Network Rail engineers will be making repairs to a section of defective track between 10.40am and 12pm and as a consequence, the 10.55am Ipswich to Felixstowe and 11.25am Felixstowe to Ipswich trains are cancelled.

“There are no rail replacement buses resourced to cover these cancellations.

“Customers are advised to travel by the next trains scheduled to run: 11.55am Ipswich to Felixstowe and 12.25pm Felixstowe to Ipswich.”

Customers with advanced tickets on one of the cancelled services will be able to run on another service, Greater Anglia confirmed.
