HUNDREDS of thousands of people have been left stranded throughout Europe, as the harsh weather conditions cause major disruptions at airports and flight cancellations.

Gatwick and Stansted closed for much of Saturday but was reopened with a string of delays.

At Stansted, Ryanair has announced that ten extra flights will take off during the course of today to destinations including Dublin, Cork, Bremen and Riga.

London’s Heathrow reopened at 6am this morning but thousands of travellers have been left stranded at the airport as the list of flight amendments and cancellations continues to stack up.

Passengers are advised to contact their airline before coming to the airport, and to allow plenty of time for their journey as road and rail networks may still be affected.
