A TREE blown down by strong winds which are buffeting the region is blocking the A11 at Elveden.
The 60ft tree fell across both lanes of London Road at 10.45am, causing severe traffic delays.
Suffolk police reported the northbound carriageway had been brought to a complete standstill while traffic travelling south was able to squeeze around the tree but was being severely affected.
There were no reports of anyone being injured.
Weather forecasters have recorded gusts of up to 60mph this morning and they predicted the strong south westerly winds would continue for several days.
