AN ESTATE agent has completed a gruelling 560 mile trek from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and raised an impressive £15,000 for a cancer charity.
Mark Sargeantson, from Kettleburgh, near Framlingham, has walked the G10 trail across the length of the Pyrenees along the French/Spanish border.
The 55-year-old was raising money for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk in memory of his friend Dr John LeVay - a pioneering cancer specialist at Ipswich Hospital who died of the disease in March.
Mr Sargeantson, a partner at Fenn Wright chartered surveyors and chairman of the Ipswich Building Society, arrived home last week having raised thousands for Cancer Campaign in Suffolk - and the money is still rolling in.
He said: “It went very well and I'm extremely pleased that I've managed to get back safe and sound without any mishaps.
“That was always the worry - that something might go wrong and I'd have a trip, a slip, a fall or a twist of the ankle that would prevent me from finishing.”
Mr Sargeantson's walk took just over six weeks to complete and in that time he enjoyed some stunning scenery - including snow capped mountains.
