WITH the help of space age floats, majorettes and up to 30 classic cars, Trimley Carnival raised £6,000 for charity, it was announced today.

The annual event at Trimley St Martin Sports and Social Club attracted an estimated 1,500 people on Saturday.

The crowds enjoyed a fun fair, majorettes display, eight travel and transport themed floats, disco, barbeque and side shows.

Organiser Pat Sills said: “It was a fantastic day and exceeded all our expectations.

“We are delighted with the amount raised and we will decide on eight chosen charities to benefit from the fundraising at our next committee meeting.

“The event was more popular than last year. It was a traditional English day out with a lovely atmosphere.”

Mrs Sills said the three-strong carnival committee is appealing for more members to help organise the 2008 event.
