SERIAL style offender Neville Mayes has bagged himself a luxury family holiday in St Lucia, after his fashion faux pas saw him recognised as Britain’s dodgiest dressed dad.

Mr Mayes, of Trimley St Mary, was nominated by his daughter Hannah for the Specsavers’ Dob in your Dad contest to find the county’s least fashion savvy dad and help him to change his habits.

As well as the holiday, he was also given a 500 makeover and a trip to London as a special guest at the Spectacle Wearer of the Year Awards, where he received his Specsavers Designer Dad 2012 award.

“I wouldn’t personally consider myself a fashion disaster but certain members of my family clearly think differently! I don’t mind too much, as it’s such a great prize,” said Mr Mayes, who works at the Port of Felixstowe.

“When my eldest daughter first said that I would make a great applicant for this competition I laughed it off and let her get on with the entry.

“I found out about my win after hearing my wife burst into laughter at an answerphone message. We had to phone several of our friends just to check that it wasn’t a wind-up!”

Neville was chosen by Specsavers’ style ambassador Gok Wan.

“The competition was stiff, with dads from across the country demonstrating some seriously shocking style blunders. However, all the kids nominating dads saw their fashion mishaps as endearing rather than embarrassing and saw the competition as an opportunity to give their dads a treat,” he said.
