It’s not every day legendary rock bands perform in tiny local venues and intimate shows, but that was exactly what Status Quo did when they visited The Railway pub in Ipswich in 1999.
After three decades of touring the world, the group performed a special show at the Foxhall Road pub for the residents of Ipswich.
They also visited HMV in Tavern Street to meet their fans and sign autographs before continuing their 10 date pub tour, which coincided with the launch of their album Under the Influence.
The tour saw Status Quo, comprising band members Francis Rossi, Rick Parfitt, Andy Bown, Jeff Rich and John ‘Rhino’ Edwards, perform at pub venues in Bristol, Cannock, Glasgow and Manchester, as well as their Suffolk performance at The Railway.
The pub was chosen from over 10 thousand entries in a competition to win a Status Quo gig. The winners were announced in The Sun newspaper.
