A GRANDMOTHER is today devastated after her car was stolen for the second time in less than six months, forcing her to cancel a trip to her homeland Germany.

Anne-Marie Perritt, who moved to Ipswich four years ago, was left frustrated and angry five months ago when her blue Ford Fiesta was stolen from outside her old house.

But when her replacement vehicle, a silver Rover Metro, was taken last week as it was parked in front of her new home in Downside Close, she could not believe her bad luck.

The 53-year-old, who works as a carer for the elderly, said: “I got up in the morning to go to work and it wasn't there - it felt terrible.

“I don't know why they have to go for my old cars.

“I have had to borrow a car so I can get to work but it means I can't go on the trip I had planed to see my family in Germany.

“I'm really upset about it as my grandchildren are there and I don't get to see them.

“But I can't afford to go now as I'll have to get another car.”

Mrs Perritt, who has four children and seven grandchildren, said since the Metro was taken, on Tuesday, September 19, she was now waking up constantly during the night to check that the borrowed car was still safely outside.

She said: “My luck's going to have to change otherwise I'll crack up.

“I'd booked the week off next week to go to Germany but now I'll just be staying at home.”
