EMERGENCY services have been called to two multiple car crashes in Ipswich town centre this morning.

EMERGENCY services have been called to two multiple car crashes in Ipswich town centre this morning.

The first collision happened at about 9.44am at the junction of Derby Road and Cauldwell Hall Road.

A 37-year-old female was taken to Ipswich Hospital after suffering minor injuries in the two-vehicle crash where a grey Fiat and a black Ford collided.

A spokeswoman for the East of England ambulance service said the female casualty was conscious and breathing at the scene of the accident but was taken to hospital for further treatment and checks.

The second accident happened about just minutes later across town, on Norwich Road, near to the railway bridge.

The three-car collision involved a red Ford, silver Vauxhall and a black Fiat and resulted in two people sustaining minor injuries.

The spokeswoman for the ambulance service said the patients were treated at the scene and did not need to be taken to hospital.

A spokesman for Suffolk police said part of Norwich Road was blocked for a short time as a result of the incident.
