An exhibition celebrating the history of Rushmere St Andrew is being held on Friday – with people being encouraged to come along and add their own memories.

The ‘Then and Now’ display will take place at the Village Hall in Humber Doucy Lane from 2-8pm on Friday and 10am-4pm Saturday.

Among areas the display sheds some light on are Rushmere during the war, the history of the heath, famous families and pictures charting the village’s history.

The parish council, church groups, volunteers and long-standing villagers have all helped contribute.

Ron Spore, co-organiser of the event, said: “It has been really interesting to witness the enthusiasm of Leonard Woolf and other contributors to the exhibition to share their wealth of knowledge of the village’s history and heritage with others.

“We hope this will result in many visitors to the exhibition, some of whom can add some of their own recollections and memories.”
