POLICE at Felixstowe are appealing for two men to come forward after an incident in which two little girls were accosted and frightened.

Officers do not necessarily believe there was anything sinister about the incident but want to speak to the men to clear the matter up.

The incident happened in St Andrew's Road between 6.30pm and 6.45pm on Monday when two men approached the girls, who were aged just ten and 11.

One of the men spoke to the girls and offered one of them a sweet. But both the youngsters were scared by the man's appearance and his demeanour and, quite rightly, reported the incident to the police, who would now like to speak to the men.

The man who spoke to the girls is described as white, aged in his 50s or 60s, with a grey spiky beard. At the time, he was wearing a dark hat, dark coloured scarf and a red jogging top with no sleeves.

The second man is also white and was wearing dark clothing.

PC Timothy Cohen appealed for anyone who was in the St Andrew's Road area at the time and saw the men speaking to the girls or walking in the street, or recognises their description, to get in touch with him on 01473 383300.

"The two young girls were quite upset about this incident and therefore we need to trace these two men," said PC Cohen.

"We would appeal for them to come forward and ask anyone who might be able to help to contact us."
