POLICE are appealing for information following two ram raids at shops in Suffolk today.

Shortly before 3.30am police were called to the One Stop Shop, in Reynolds Road, Ipswich, after neighbours had heard a loud noise and then an alarm sounding.

A Green Izuzu Trooper had been reversed into the shop and four to five men wearing balaclavas or scarves were later seen leaving the area in two vehicles.

They were holding what appeared to be baseball bats.

The car, which had been stolen earlier from the Essex area, was left at the scene and it does not appear that anything has been stolen from the shop.

Police would like to hear from anyone with information about this incident, particularly anyone saw the two vehicles leaving the area at high speed.

Police are also appealing for witnesses to a ram raid at a Co-operative store on Market Hill, Clare, at 4.15am.

A red Ford Fiesta smashed into the rear wall of the shop and a large quantity of cigarettes were stolen. The car was left at the scene.

Witnesses describe two vehicles leaving the scene in the direction of Stoke-by-Clare.

One of the vehicles is described as being a light coloured hatchback, and the other as a dark coloured Peugeot.

Calls to the Reynolds Road incident should be made to Dc John Grant at Ipswich CID on 01473 383133.

Calls to the Clare incident should be made to Haverhill CID on 01284 774100.
