A CLACTON lifeboat crew was involved in the dramatic rescue of two people from a sinking yacht.
The rescue, which also involved Walton coastguards and a Belgian helicopter team, took place on the River Crouch shortly after 1pm yesterday.
Two people onboard the yacht Rhubarb sent out a mayday call after running aground. Rescuers arrived to take them safely to shore as the yacht began break up around them.
Navigational warnings were transmitted to sailors in the area when the yacht later sank.
