The new Two Rivers Medical Centre in Ipswich has been officially opened - with one of its longest-registered patients cutting the gold ribbon.
The centre was formed following a merger between two other health centres - the Lattice Barn Surgery and Woodbridge Road Medical Centre. The new centre will provide a service for around 25,000 patients in Ipswich.
Janice Taylor, 87, was invited to open the centre, having been a patient at the Woodbridge Road centre since 1938.
Dr Jonathan Knight, from the Two Rivers Medical Centre, said: “Everyone here is exceptionally proud of the new building, from which the staff is already delivering first-class primary care services to people in north-east Ipswich.
“We wanted to mark the opening of the medical centre, and, since patients are the focus of our work, it is wholly appropriate that one of our longest-running patients, Mrs Janice Taylor, who has been with us for 78 years, performed the official ceremony.”
