Mark Cole was named as UKIP’s parliamentary prospective candidate for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich on Tuesday night.
Mr Cole, the former chairman of the UKIP Harwich and North Essex branch, faces a fight for the constituency against Dan Poulter, the Conservative MP who won the seat with a 50.7% share of the vote at the last General Election in 2010.
Mr Cole runs a driving school with pupils in Ipswich and Colchester and has a background in fleet management.
He also previously served as a T.A. Military Policeman in the UK, Germany and Bosnia.
He lives in Lawford with his wife, Jezahree, and their four-month old son.
