POLICE believe a man found unconscious in an Ipswich car park could have been the victim of an assault.
POLICE believe a man found unconscious in an Ipswich car park could have been the victim of an assault.
The 47-year-old, who is from Ipswich, was discovered by a member of the public at 4am on Saturday in the car park in Portman Road, next to the football stadium.
He was taken to Ipswich Hospital where he remains unconscious and in a serious condition.
A spokesman for Suffolk police said officers now believe the man may have been the victim of assault due to the nature of the injury to his head.
“Officers are now appealing for anyone in the area of Portman Road and Princess Street Ipswich between 1.30am and 4am on Saturday and who saw anything suspicious to come forward,” he said.
The spokesman said officers had now located a grey Ford Escort Cabriolet car following media appeals.

Documentation relating to the car was discovered in the man's pocket.
Officers have also now traced the victim's next of kin.
