UNEMPLOYMENT rates in the UK have remained unchanged according to new figures released today.The Office for National Statistics said the unemployment rate at the end of August was 5.4 per cent, unchanged over the previous quarter but down 0.2pc over the year.

The Office for National Statistics said the unemployment rate at the end of August was 5.4 per cent, unchanged over the previous quarter but down 0.2pc over the year.
The number of unemployed people in the UK stands at 1.65 million.
Meanwhile the employment rate for people of working age was 74.4pc for the three months ending in August 2007, down 0.1 from the previous quarter and down 0.3 over the year.
