felixstowe: Players at one of the region’s top football clubs have teamed up with the Evening Star, which is to play a vital role in their campaign this season.

We have signed a sponsorship deal with Felixstowe and Walton United to give the club a big boost – and to ensure it gets the very best coverage and promotion.

The arrangement will mean the Evening Star will sponsor the Seasiders’ match day programmes and the players will wear its logo and First for Felixstowe message on their shirts.

New promotional banners have also been provided at the club’s ground in Dellwood Avenue and Phil Griffiths, who has been involved with the thriving club for 40 years, is to write a new weekly column for the paper giving all the news and views from the team.

The deal has been struck as part of the launch of the Felixstowe edition of the Evening Star which has given the seaside town its own evening paper packed with extra news, columns, and offers.

Editor Nigel Pickover said he was delighted with the tie up with Felixstowe and Walton and very excited about the year ahead.

“We are thrilled to be able to support the football club in this way because the club is a vital part of the community and is loved by people of all ages,” he said.

“Our aim is to support the town of Felixstowe in any way we can and give the resort the very best coverage that it deserves and that includes sport, which is important to every community.”

Chris Daynes, commercial officer for the club, said: “Felixstowe and Walton United FC are delighted to welcome the Felixstowe Evening Star as a main sponsor, cementing the excellent relationship we have enjoyed over many seasons.

“We are the largest community club in the town and what better way to build on that by joining forces with the Evening Star, a local voice that also plays such an important role in the community.

“We are ambitious and aim to continually improve every aspect of the club to give the town of Felixstowe a football club that it can be proud of.”

The club is hoping its young side with a few experienced heads will enjoy a good season and build on its eighth place last year.
