Three people have been taken to hospital following a crash on the A1214 Colchester Road, Ipswich.

Colchester Road and Westbury Road were closed, causing delays, but have since reopened.

The accident, which is thought to have involved three vehicles, happened at the junction with Norbury Road.

A spokeswoman for Suffolk police said they were contacted about the crash at 2.52pm.

A spokesman for the ambulance service said there were four casualties in total, including one with a head injury which is thought to be serious and one with a chest injury and potential spine injuries. The spokesman said their conditions are not thought to be life-threatening.

They were taken to Ipswich Hospital along with a casualty, who was described as walking wounded, with a minor chest injury.

The spokesman said another person who was walking wounded was discharged at the scene.

The East Anglian Air Ambulance was sent to the scene, but the casualties went to Ipswich Hospital by land ambulances.
