A 30-year-old man from Ipswich was arrested yesterday on suspicion of sexual offences following an alleged assault on Saturday.
The victim, in her 20s, was walking along Burrell Road, Ipswich at around 8am when she was approached by a man who forced her into nearby bushes.
He told her he had a knife, punched her, slapped her, and tried to sexually assault her before running off towards the train station when she tried to fight him off.
A man was arrested last night and was taken to Martlesham Heath police investigation centre for questioning.
He has since been released on police bail until February 3 while enquiries continue.
Police are still appealing for witnesses and have asked anyone with information to contact Ipswich CID on 101 quoting reference number IC/14/5161, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
