The retail firm, which has more than 100 stores across the UK, is preparing to revamp the former Superdrug store on the corner of Tavern Street and Tower Street

The news has been described as a boon for the town's shopping hub which has experienced a number of high profile departures including Littlewoods and Allders in recent years.

To celebrate the opening of the new store in Ipswich, H&M has announced that the first 200 customers will get £5 off of their first purchase over £5 on opening day only.

Magnus Olsson, H&M's UK and Ireland manager, said the firm searching for a suitable store in Ipswich for some time.

He said: "After looking for a location in Ipswich for a number of years now, we are pleased to announce the arrival of an H&M store.

"Everyone should be able to find something fashionable at H&M.”
