Update: Orwell Bridge fully re-opens after multi-vehicle crash leaves four motorists in hospital

Four people are in hospital after a multi-vehicle crash on the A14 near the Orwell Bridge caused major disruption in the evening rush-hour.

The four-vehicle collision took place on the A14 eastbound between Wherstead (junction 56) and Nacton (junction 57) at around 5.40pm.
No-one was seriously injured in the crash involving a Peugeot 307, Vauxhall Vectra, Vauxhall Insignia and a Ford Galaxy.
The A14 eastbound between Wherstead and Nacton was closed for around two hours, causing standstill traffic on the Orwell Bridge and long tailbacks which reportedly stretched back to the Copdock Interchange.
The inside lane of the A14 between Wherstead and Nacton re-opened at around 7.45pm and the outside lane re-opened at around 8.30pm.

Highways England earlier reported that the Orwell Bridge eastbound would not fully re-open until 12.30am, with three vehicles requiring recovery in the outside lane.
An ambulance spokesman said four motorists were taken to Ipswich Hospital after suffering minor back and neck injuries.

Police say they do not know exactly where the crash took place, saying it happened either on the Orwell Bridge or at the foot of the bridge in Wherstead.
Firefighters were forced to cut off the roof of one of the vehicles involved to rescue two motorists shortly after 6pm.
Police earlier set-up traffic diversions near the Orwell Bridge.
Officers did not arrest or question anyone at the scene.
