Update: Toddler dies after A12 crash in Martlesham

A 20-month-old little girl died on Friday afternoon after a crash on the A12 in Martlesham on Thursday.
The toddler died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge on Friday afternoon, police said.
The toddler, who has not been named, was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital after the two-vehicle collision on the A12 southbound in Martlesham, between the Tesco and BT roundabouts, at around 1.45pm on Thursday.
Police and paramedics were called to the scene and the road was closed off. The toddler was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
On Friday evening, a Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “A 20-month-old girl has died at Addenbrooke’s Hospital after sustaining critical injuries in a road traffic collision on the A12 at Martlesham.
“The little girl was initially taken to Ipswich Hospital following the two-vehicle crash around 1.45pm on Thursday but was later transferred to Addenbrooke’s.
“She died there (on Friday) afternoon.”
