A woman has been taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in a “serious but stable” condition following a two car crash in Ipswich.

The collision happened shortly before 4.50pm yesterday on Henley Road which involved a silver Audi A5 and a blue Honda Civic.

Paramedics treated two casualties from the Civic who were taken to Ipswich Hospital. A third patient, described as “walking wounded” from the Audi was also taken to hospital.

This morning a police spokeswoman said a man from the Civic, who suffered internal abdomen injuries, was still in Ipswich Hospital. A woman, also from the Civic, has been transferred to Addenbrooke’s, Cambridge, with lung, leg and ankle injuries. She is said to be in a “serious but stable” condition. Both are thought to be in their 70s.

The road was closed in both directions with diversions in place while the emergency services worked at the scene.
