A van which tried to evade police could not make the getaway quick enough when officers pulled it over to investigate a number of offences.
Officers stopped in white Vauxhall Vivaro in Ipswich during the evening of Friday, October 19.
They issued the driver of the vehicle with a traffic offence report (TOR) after uncovering what they described as a “full house” of offences including no insurance, no MOT and no driving licence.
The vehicle was seized and officers from the Norfolk and Suffolk Roads and Armed Policing Team Tweeted: “Tried to evade us just now in #Ipswich but our X5 is faster than a Vauxhall Vivaro.”
Under Section 165 of the Road Traffic Act, police have the power to seize any vehicle that is being driven without a valid insurance policy or where the driver does not hold a valid driving licence.
Following a seizure of a vehicle, officers are required to issue a seizure notice and leaflet, as well as inform drivers that, if they want to recover the vehicle, they must comply with the instructions contained within the leaflet.
