LIFE for Graham and Lorinda Hall does not get any easier three years after their 17-year-old daughter was murdered.
The passing of time has not dulled the pain of the murder of their cherished daughter Vicky, and each day is filled with thoughts of her and the dark nights with despair at the senseless killing.
Looming tomorrow is the third anniversary of the dreadful day the lively and popular teenager went missing as she walked home from a Felixstowe nightclub in the early hours.
The agonising hours the couple spent waiting at their home in Faulkeners Way, Trimley St Mary, for news – eventually hearing the words they dreaded, that a body had been found – is still imprinted deep on Graham's mind.
"It was from tomorrow until next Tuesday – those were the dates," said Graham without hesitation.
"It doesn't seem three years ago though. In fact, I cannot believe it was that long ago – it seems such a short time, really.
"It's still tough. Every day is tough. I know it is the third anniversary and the anniversary is always a difficult time, but no day is easy. We miss her all the time and we still don't know what happened."
Graham and Lorinda feel now that the case will never be solved. They say the police did an excellent job with so little hard evidence, but the passing of time means new clues are unlikely.
"Unless there are some new DNA techniques or her clothes turn up – though I think the person burned them – there are unlikely to be any new clues now. We shall probably never know," said Graham.
"But the person who killed her knows what they did. I only thought about that this morning as I got up – we live with Victoria's death every day, but that person does also. They know what they did and they have to live with it."
The couple have found some solace by throwing their weight behind efforts to create a memorial to Felixstowe sixth former Vicky – a new sports pavilion for the village and which will bear her name.
The fund currently stands at £100,000.
