IPSWICH youngsters are set to enjoy lots of new toys this Christmas after around 100 bikers gave up their afternoon to deliver them.

The town's annual toy run set off from Orwell Motorcycles in Ranelagh Road on Saturday and kind hearted bikers, armed with their donated toys, rode to the Willows Children's Centre in Magdalene Close, Chantry.

The bikers were from a number of motorcycle groups across the county, including the Black Shuck Motorcycle Club, and some even travelled from further afield.

When they arrived at the centre, they put all the presents under a Christmas tree and enjoyed a light lunch.

Tee Mason, vice president of the Black Shuck Motorcycle Club, based in Ipswich, said: “It went perfectly. We had a nice day for it.

“There were bikers from all over the place and one guy had even come up from London for it. Everyone buys a toy and then takes it to the centre.”

The presents will be given to the children of families who use the centre, which links up with health services, schools, training and employment services to provide a wide range of services for those in need.

Traffic was temporarily stopped as scores of bikers left the store's car park.
