What a difference a day makes. Hats and suncream were the order of the day yesterday, but those bright and sunny skies made way for heavy rain and wind this morning, signalling a change to the weather in Suffolk for the next few days.

Hats and suncream were the order of the day earlier this week, but those bright and sunny skies made way for heavy rain and wind yesterday morning.

Forecasters have said the next few days will now be more unpredictable with an increasing risk of rain from Friday.

Although Britain is unlikely to suffer much from the after-effects of the tropical storm which is currently battering the Caribbean Islands, warm air coming from that area is likely to make the weather more changeable.

Phil Garner, a forecaster at Weatherquest, said: “There is nothing in the way of horrendous storms or anything like that, it is just a case of showers and being a bit breezy.

“I think it will be with us for 10-12 days and then it will settle back down again.”

This morning’s downpours led to some minor flooding on the county’s road and some minor accidents.
