Public transport users had to be diverted around the centre of Ipswich yesterday morning after a bus hit a building in Great Colman Street.
Officers were called to the scene at the junction of Northgate Street and Great Colman Street shortly after 10.30am.
The First Bus group service 66 to Martlesham Heath via Kesgrave, struck the side of the building, which was once used by Estate Agents Seatons.
A police officer on the scene said there were no injuries to passengers, who all caught other buses.
They added that the bus hit the building after the driver tried to manoeuvre round an obstruction caused by a broken down van on the other side of the road.
Buses were diverted around the scene for about 40 minutes while the incident was dealt with.
Megan Howard, who works at nearby estate agents Fine and Country said she didn’t know about the incident until people started taking photos around the scene of the incident.
Miss Howard added: “I heard a bang but I thought it was some one putting something in the van.”
A spokesman for First Bus Group said: “We are aware of an incident involving one of our 66 service vehicles which happened in Great Colman Street, Ipswich, at 10.30am today.
“We are currently investigating the incident and can confirm that there were no passenger injuries.”
