A 17-year-old girl was raped in a park in Ipswich last night, police have said.

The incident took place in Sherrington Road Park between 10pm and 10.10pm.

A Suffolk Constabulary spokesman said: “The investigation is at an early stage and the victim is being supported by specialist officers, who will be working with her today to obtain a fuller account of the incident.

“Police cordons around the park were lifted around 3.15pm.

Detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
