IPSWICH/US: Stay classy, Ipswich Town!

Hollywood actor and comedian Will Ferrell – known to millions thanks to his roles in a host of films including Anchorman – can today be unmasked as a Super Blue.

The 44-year-old, who is one of Tinsel Town’s best-paid stars, revealed his surprise love of the Tractor Boys recently in Miami.

When asked if he was a football fan at the Casa De Mi Padre press conference, the Old School funnyman responded: “I like football.

“My club (is) Ipswich...or Aston Villa.”

Quite where Ferrell’s passion for the Blues – and Villa – comes from is unknown.

But a spokesman for the Blues was pleased to learn of his support for the team – and invited him to Portman Road to enjoy a game.

“We welcome Will’s support and he is welcome to Portman Road any time he can come along,” he said.

The clip of Ferrell declaring his love of Ipswich Town was posted on to internet site You Tube and has attracted plenty of attention from the Blues’ supporters.

So far, the video has been watched more than 7,000 times.

Town fan MrAlztar posted on the site: “Ha ha, ITFC need to get him a season ticket.”

Other comments include “COYB” and “Ipswich Town? Good man!”.

Ferrell – who, as news reader Ron Burgundy, famously urged San Diego to “stay classy” in blockbuster movie Anchorman – has also appeared in Blades of Glory and as Buddy in Christmas favourite Elf.

He joins a host of other actors, musicians, sportsmen and comedians who have also confessed their love of the Super Blues.

Ferrell is considered a member of the ‘Frat Pack’– a generation of leading Holywood comic actors who emerged in the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Ben Stiller, Steve Carell, Vince Vaughn and Owen and Luke Wilson.
