A MAGICIAN has succeeded in predicting the headline on the front page of Saturday's Evening Star.
Conjurer Michael J Fitch wowed a packed Corn Exchange when he correctly guessed that the headline would be Brotherly Love.
The award-winning magician and star of Channel 4's Freaky Magic had on Tuesday handed over a sealed prediction of our weekend headline - only to be opened at last night's Ipswich Magical Society International Convention and Magic Show.
BBC Radio Suffolk presenter and Star columnist Stephen Foster was on hand to open the sealed envelope.
After coming off stage, Fitch said: “I wasn't sure if I was going to get it - some predictions work and others don't.
“I'm really pleased because it was always a risk.”
Fitch has previously forecast rugby results to raise money for Children in Need and, while the trickster wouldn't reveal his techniques, he admitted anyone had the ability to make predictions.
“It's all about training your mind,” he said.
“Many people have deja-vus and it's similar to that.
“Unfortunately, I can't predict numbers - otherwise I would do the lottery!”
Magicians from all over the UK descended on the Corn Exchange for one of the few occasions the magical society opens its doors to the public.
The day also featured lectures and demonstrations on children's magic, mind magic, comedy and close-up magic.
