CAMPAIGNERS against a proposal to build a new road through a Suffolk beauty spot have produced a video outlining their arguments against the scheme.
The Suffolk Wildlife Trust and the Ipswich Wildlife Group are spearheading the Save Orwell Country Park Campaign and believe that the planned East Bank Link Road will badly affect the environment of the area.
The ten-minute video has been filmed by media technician Mike Ewart and describes the damage that would be done to irreplaceable wildlife habitat if the transport scheme goes ahead.
Suffolk Wildlife Trust conservation officer Dr Simone Bullion narrates the film, and states any economic benefits from the road are not enough to justify building over large areas of the park and ruining it for future generations.
She said: "It is essential that the decisions we make now don't compromise the needs of our children and grandchildren."
Important local animal and plant life would disappear if the road project gets the go-ahead, Dr Bullion added.
Copies of the video and available for £1.50, including post and packaging, from Suffolk Wildlife Trust, Brooke House, Ashbocking, Ipswich, IP6 9JY. Cheques should be made payable to SWT Trading Ltd.
A Cd is also available for £1 including post and packaging.
