Vintage lovers are invited to take a step and a swing back in time to support people living with dementia.

A 1940s themed fundraiser will take place in Ipswich on Friday featuring dancing, live music, historical re-enactments and a display of classic vehicles.

The “Ballroom Blitz” has been organised by SoundCure, which is a local group raising funds to support people living with dementia.

Proceeds will go towards an appeal the group is spearheading to raise £20,000 for a summer house for Ipswich Hospital’s Constable Suite, where vulrenable patients will be able to listen to music and enjoy the garden in all weathers.

The event will feature live music from the Three Chordettes, while tutors from the Ipswich School of Dancing will teach a dance classic from the 1940s.

There will also be a display of costumes and vehicles, along with a photo booth where people can have their picture taken complete with vintage accessories.

The Ballroom Blitz will take place at Greshams in Tuddenham Road and will start at 7.30pm.

Tickets are priced at £12 .
