An Ipswich vintage tea party organised in memory of a much-loved dad and husband has raised more than £1,100 for St Elizabeth hospice.

On Sunday, Holywells Park’s orangery came alive with afternoon tea alongside dancing, 1940s-themed quartet performances, face painting, children’s activities and tombola.

The event was organised in memory of dad-of-two Andy Wise, who died from kidney cancer in 2014, and was supported by St Elizabeth Hospice.

Since then his wife Christina has been a committed fundraiser, raising more than £40,000.

“It was a really amazing day,” she said.

“The weather didn’t put people off, with a fantastic venue inside and outside.

“People just kept coming – we ran out of tombola tickets and we only had one tray of cakes left. Hopefully when we do it again even more people will come.”
