AN Ipswich Securicor worker is recovering today after being violently robbed in Manningtree.

As first reported on The Evening Star website, the raider targeted a Securicor van in High Street at about 11am yesterday and made off with a quantity of what is believed to be foreign currency.

The incident happened outside Barclays Bank when a robber, described as a black man dressed in a fluorescent yellow jacket, pounced on a guard and wrestled him to the floor.

The guard was from Ipswich but it is not known whether he was part of the same crew attacked twice in the town's Nacton Road,

Both of those raids happened outside Lloyds Bank as security guards were collecting cash.

In those incidents, on November 18 last year and February 10 this year, robbers used a hand gun to demand cash.

Police are appealing to witnesses to yesterday's raid to get in touch and are keen to speak to the occupants of a blue Audi A4, seen in the area, to make contact.

Anyone with information should call Clacton CID on 01255 221312.
