The competition, launched by community radio venue South Street Studios at its recent open day, invited visitors to choose their favourite guitar tune and rock out in front of a green screen.

Now, after all the entries were compiled and suitable backdrop projected behind each entrant’s video, the town’s top rockers are vying for the prize of a new guitar and rock-god status.

South Street Studios director Joe Bailey said: “Earlier this month, Ipswich’s community multimedia complex South Street Studios celebrated its first official open day, helping to raise awareness of their diverse work using music and media. As part of the day’s celebrations, a search was put out to discover the town’s best air guitar rock stars, asking them to throw down their best moves to some of the greatest guitar solos of all time.

“Plenty stepped on stage at Ipswich’s latest venue The Smokehouse and strutted their stuff before a packed out stadium; thanks to the magic of green screen.”

The competition now needs your vote to crown Ipswich’s best air guitar hero, with the entry video that has the most views being declared the winner.

All the entries are available to view on the South Street Studios Youtube page, or by visiting www.southstreetstudios.org.

The winner will receive a brand new guitar from West End Music.
