EXPECTANT and new mums are invited to nominate their midwife or midwifery team for the title Midwife of the Year 2002.

Established in 1997, the award was launched to emphasise the significant work carried out by midwives and allow parents to show their appreciation for all the care, dedication and support their midwife has shown them.

In previous years the award has captured the hearts and imagination of new and expectant parents and this year hopes to build on that success.

The wining midwife or midwifery team will be awarded the title and will receive a total of £1,000 to spend on vital equipment for the unit and a further £1,000 to spend for their own use.

The competition is open to expectant and new parents who have had or are expecting their baby between April 1 2001 and August 1 2002.

Eight regional winners will be chosen from nominations and from these eight an overall winner will be selected.

To nominate your midwife, parents must fill in the official entry form found in hospitals and GP surgeries across the country or write to Midwife of the Year, PR dept, Mamas & Papas Ltd, Colne Bridge Rd, Huddersfield, HD5 0RH or alternatively visit their website: www.Mamasandpapas.co.uk

The closing date for entering is August 18, 2002.
