THE Ipswich Charter Wall hangings are to be on display at Ipswich Museum from mid November until next spring.

The Ipswich Blue Badge Guides are planning a series of special walks to commemorate the completion of the eight embroidered hangings which celebrate the 800th anniversary of the Charter granted by King John to the town in the year 1200.

The walks will provide a chance to discover many of the features depicted on the hangings that can still be seen in Ipswich today.

Each walk will start from Ipswich Tourist Information Centre, St Stephens Church, in St Stephens Lane at 2pm.

They will last about 90 minutes, ending at the museum in High Street where the full set of hangings will be on display.

Places are limited so advance booking is essential. Tickets cost £1.75 and £1.25 concessions, and are available from the Tourist Information Centre.

The walks will take place on November 17, December 29, January 26, February 23, and March 23.

Full details are available from the Tourist Information Centre on 01473 258070.
